🎓 Advanced Behind-the-Wheel Training — Course Summary
This Maryland MVA–approved course is required for Apprentice Instructors seeking Full Instructor Certification. It prepares candidates to confidently teach behind-the-wheel driving lessons through structured study and hands-on training.
Eligibility
To enroll, candidates must:
Be employed by a licensed driving school
Hold a valid MVA Apprentice Instructor Permit
Course Format
This program combines independent study with one in-person practical session:
📘 Independent Study:
Review all provided materials, complete an electronic multiple choice assignment, and study core topics related to teaching driving skills, maneuvers, and defensive driving strategies.🚗 In-Person Session:
Conducted one-on-one with an Instructor Trainer in Bel Air, MD (21014).
You’ll learn reference points, teaching techniques, and a step-by-step method for all in-car skills and maneuvers in three different driving environments.
The session concludes with a graded role-play activity — no advance preparation or lesson plan is required.
