This course is approved by the Maryland MVA for Apprentice Instructors. Apprentice Instructors who wish to obtain Full Instructor Certification must successfully complete Advanced Classroom Training.
*Maryland State Certified teachers are exempt from this course if he/she is able to provide his/her State Teaching Certificate to MVA.
*To be eligible for this course you must be employed by a driving school and have an apprentice permit.
Course Overview:
This course is designed as an independent or directed study course. The materials are provided in the links below. Students will read and research the topics relevant to teaching classroom lessons. Short answer assignments will be completed by the student electronically.
There is one “Zoom” classroom session. The apprentice candidate will teach the trainer a 20 minute presentation as outlined in the directions below.

Dates and Times:
This training is conducted one on one.
Training is available 7 days a week. Morning, afternoon or evening. However, morning is preferred.
You can expect to being right away and finish within two weeks.
Registraion:
Text the following to 443-386-3025…
- A picture of the front of your Apprentice Permit
- A picture of the front of your Driver License
- The name of your driving school
- Your email and cell phone
- Your availability
A “Welcome Email” will be sent upon registration with how to get started.
Course Fee:
The fee for the Advanced Classroom training is $200 and is payable via cash, credit or check.
Instruction for how to pay will be included in the “Welcome Email.”
